Written in 1939 by Agatha Christie, Ten Little Niggers (its original title) has broken all records of viewers and readers: the most sold mystery novel in history and is among the most represented plays since its premiere in London in 1943. It is also the best idea of the British writer, as she herself acknowledged.
In Spain the last production of 10 negritos was in 2000, with Ricard Reguant in the direction and produced by Enrique Cornejo, with thousands of performances throughout Spain. They now join forces again to create this new version which they have adapted to the times with an aesthetic influenced by TV shows like Mad Men. It is interpreted by Monica Soria, Pablo Vineyard, Quim Capdevila, Lydia Miranda, David Zarzo, Diego Molero, Jorge Lucas, Lara Dibildos, Paco Churruca and Antonio Albella.
The story is well known: Eight characters receive an invitation for a holiday in a mansion of the Black Island, on the English coast. When they arrive they discover that the hosts are not in the house and that they will be attended by servants.
During dinner the guests observe ten small porcelain figures, Ten Little Niggers, and later a recording accuses them of being guilty of the death of a number of people.
