The Compañía de Ópera y Zarzuela del Teatro Lírico de Barcelona, directed by José María Damunt, puts on stage this popular zarzuela with collaboration baritone Lluís Sintes. With libretto by Ricardo de la Vega and music by Tomas Breton, it premiered uccessfully in February 1894 at the Teatro Apolo in Madrid.
La Verbena de la Paloma is a zarzuelita (a type of zarzuela in one act) and is divided into three frames, with different scenery and staging. Includes very famous songs like Una morena y una rubia, ¿Dónde vas con mantón de manila? o Por ser la Virgen de la Paloma.
It is programmed into the 2013 Season Zarzuela Palma Auditòrium.
