This ballet in two acts and three scenes of Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) is based on the adaptation that Alexander Dumas (the father) did the story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King , Ernest Hoffmann. The scenery is the work of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
