‘Tots ocells’

Oriol Broggi directs the production of Tots ocells, a work by the Canadian writer of Lebanese origin, Wajdi Mouawad. A co-production of the Grec 2024 Festival and La Perla 29 where the violence of the outside world hovers over small domestic life, and generations are shattered when the past overflows the present.

Eitan is a young man from a German Jewish family who lives in New York and who studies human DNA. He meets Wahida, a young woman of Arab origin who is doing her thesis on a 16th century humanist scholar who was forced to convert from Islam to Christianity. The two fall in love, and Eitan will have to face his family and confront his religious beliefs.

But when the two young people embark on a trip to Israel and the West Bank, Eitan is trapped by a terrorist attack on the Allenby border bridge that will plunge him into a deep coma. This will force her family to travel from Germany to Tel Aviv, where they will discover their family past and will have to face the overwhelming presence of Wahida, while the world explodes in a mix of beliefs, human DNA, religion and chance.

Tots ocells is performed by Queralt Albinyana, Guillem Balart, Xavier Boada, Joan Carreras, Marissa Josa, Miriam Moukhles, Xavier Ruano and Clara Segura. Recommended age: from 14 years old. Language: Catalan.
