This work, by French playwright Francis Veber, has become an essential reference in the genre of comedy. It premiered in 1993 at the Théâtre des Varietés Paris, and five years later the film adaptation was produced with script by Veber himself and directed by Jay Roach.
El sopar dels idiotes (The dinner of fools) is an intelligent criticism of a society in which it is not easy to know who really is the idiot, a group of friends organize every Wednesday what they have called 'The Dinner Game', a game in which each must be accompanied by a stupid character that everyone can laugh at. Pierre has brought whom he considers the biggest idiot of the so far presented in this cruel game, François Pignon, but the day before he suffers an attack of sciatica and things take a very different course than he had imagined.
The play now presented is a production of the company Capsigranys, directed by Pep Lopez and interpreted by Joan Carles Bestard, Catalina Riera, Catalina Sureda, Antoni Truyols, Joan Aguiló, Biel Bisquerra, Francesca Pocoví and Jaume Obrador.
The performances will benefit Aproscom (Association for people with intellectual disabilities in Manacor and region) and Estel de Llevant.
