The third concert of the season 2012-2013 of the Foundation Studium Aureum is dedicated to these musical pieces composed by Gioacchino Rossini (1792-1868) in his mature years.
This Italian composer was known for his operas and his particular religious music. For salons and soirees, he created a significant amount of vocal and piano music of which the common denominator is humor that characterized the author so much.
The Soirées musicales show the Rossini away from the madding crowd and operatic virtuosity, writing songs for the sheer pleasure of creation.
