'La serva padrona'

The cultural association Art Vocal Ensemble premieres a new production, the twelfth since its creation in 2015. It is Monográfico Pergolesi, which includes the Concerto for flute in G major and the opera buffa LLa serva padrona, adaptation in Catalan by Teatre de Les Comèdies.

Very few Baroque composers were spared the contempt of romantic culture. Apart from Johann Sebastian Bach, only the Italian Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736) would manage. With this production, Art Vocal Ensemble wants to pay tribute to the work of one of the most original composers, stylistically speaking, of the Baroque period.

The first part is dedicated to the virtuoso Concerto for flute in Sol Mayor P. 33, with Marta Alcover as soloist.

The second part interprets the opera buffa La serva padrona, adaptation in Catalan by the company Teatre de les Comèdies. Released in 1746, tells the story of Uberto, an old sick bachelor, and his two servants: Vespone and his maid Serpina, who tired of serving has decided to seduce her employer and become owner of the house.

With stage direction by Romina Colotto and musical direction by Llorenç Gelabert, Marta Bauzà (Serpina), Elies Benito-Arranz (Uberto), David Llecha (Vespone), the string ensemble of the Art Vocal Ensemble and the concertmaster Ramon Andreu take part.
