'El rey de las máscaras'

Celebration of the Chinese New Year on February 1, 2022 (year 4719 according to the Chinese calendar) with the screening of the 1996 film El rey de las máscaras (The King of Masks) (original title: Bian Lian), directed by Wu Tianming.

An old street artist, a master of the art of changing masks, is given the opportunity to practice his art at the Peking Opera. But he rejects the offer, since he only wants to pass on his knowledge to a male heir. One night a child is sold to him by his parents, sunk in poverty.
