This lecture series is held around the exhibition Egyptian Mummies.The secret of eternal life, which can be seen until January 2014 at CaixaForum Palma. The exhibition has been designed by the Musée de la Civilisation in Quebec (Canada) in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden of Leiden (The Netherlands), famous for its Egyptology collections.
The cycle The religion of the ancient Egyptians is coordinated by Carles Buenacasa, associate professor at the Department of Prehistory, Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Barcelona. It consists of four conferences held from November 14 to 28. The titles are:
Thursday 14: General Characteristics of Egyptian religion: Cosmogony and major deities
Thursday 21: The funeral rituals: the conceptions about death and life in the hereafter
Thursday 28: Religion and magical practices: the power of amulets and charms against evil powers
