French playwright Florian Zeller wrote Le Père (The Father) in 2012 and in 2020 directed his film adaptation, starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. This production in Catalan is directed by Josep Maria Mestres and stars Josep Maria Pou and Rosa Ranom.
Andreu, a cultured, sarcastic and stubborn seventy-six-year-old man, is losing his memory, but he refuses to accept any kind of help and rejects all the caregivers that his daughter, Anna, tries to hire. As he tries to make sense of his changing circumstances, Andrés begins to doubt his loved ones, his mind, and even his own experience of reality.
The cast is completed by Josep Julien, Victòria Pagès, Mireia Illamola and Pep Pla. Set design by Paco Azorín.
