‘Las niñas zombi’

The scenic creator Celso Giménez, member and director of the artistic collective La Tristura, delves into recent Spanish political history in Las niñas zombi, and asks how inheritance and genealogies affect our lives.

Three young girls, three cousins around 30 years old, have gotten together in a small house in the middle of the countryside after not seeing each other for a long time. They drink, laugh, dance and catch up.

In the midst of the joy and excitement of the reunion, one of them wants to tell them a story. “The other day I received a call. They found a body next to the river. Do you really know what happened to grandpa?” From there on, the night changes. We have lived with our backs to the war, to the history of our grandparents, but once you know a little, you need to know everything.
