'El Neoromanticismo'

The second seasonal concert of the Fundació Studium Aureum is entitled Neoromanticismo and is dedicated to the music of the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov, who was also a pianist and conductor. He is one of the last great romantic composers of European classical music, and as a pianist he is considered one of the most influential of the 20th century.

The concert is directed by Carles Ponseti and counts as soloists with Andreu Riera (piano), Ramon Andreu (violin) and Dmitry Struchkov (violoncello).

The choir of Studium Aureum participates, formed by:

Contralts: Amelia Forteza, Joana M. Furió, Ció Gener, Petra Genestra, Rose-Marie Iglesias, Maria de Gràcia Salas, Montserrat Sobrevias.

Half an hour before the concert, the composer Mercè Pons will offer an introductory talk about the composer and the works.

The program consists of works for female choir, piano, violin and cello by  Sergei Rachmaninov (Semiónov, Rusia1873- Bervely Hills, United States 1943).
