Madrid filmmaker Javier Rebollo (1969) presents this film, the third in his career, shot in 2011 in Argentina and starring actor Jose Sacristan. El muerto y ser feliz (The dead and being happy) is a coproduction of Spain-Argentina-France and tells the story of a Spanish hired murderer who is about to die in a hospital in Buenos Aires and escapes. Following the presentation and screening of the film there will be a conversation with Javier Rebollo.
The film has won several awards since its release, the first prize in the Spanish Film Festival of Toulouse, the FIPRESCI prize, the ‘Concha de Plata’ for Best Actor at the San Sebastian Film Festival and, most recently, the award for best screenplay in Spanish Film Festival XI Cinehorizontes of Marseille.
After the premiere, El muerto y ser feliz will be released exclusively on Friday November 30 at CineCiutat, while in the remaining quwe Spanish rooms will not arrive until 2013.
