Thirteen centuries ago existed on the island of Cabrera a monastery of monks of which the existence was only known through a conserved letter to Pope Gregorio Magno.
For 15 years a team of archaeologists, coordinated by the municipality of Palma has done prospection and excavation which allowed to learn about this monastic community.
The exhibition El monasterio de Cabrera. Siglos V-VIII (The Monastery of Cabrera. centuries V-VIII) brings together nearly 150 pieces found in the excavations and contextualized in the Christian monastic world of V to VIII century AD, a time when the Balearic Islands were at first part, of the territory of the Vandal kingdom and then of the Ottoman Empire.
This exhibition is accompanied by a series of activities such as workshops, conferences and dramatic readings. The program is attached to this event.
