This film series is part of the activities of the European Conference on Jewish Culture and is organized by the Palma City Council and Arca Llegat Jueu. It programs 3 films from September 12 to 26, all of which are Jewish.

September 12

El Golem (Germany, 1920)

German silent film classic that tells the legend of a statue: the Golem. In the 16th century, in the Prague ghetto, lived Rabbi Löw, magician and master in the art of necromancy. To prevent the expulsion of the Jews, ordered by Emperor Rudolph II, he modeled the clay figure of the Golem and invoked the spirit of Astaharot to grant him life.

El amor en su lugar (Love Gets a Room, Spain 2021)

The action takes place in January 1942, when 400,000 Jews from all over Poland have been confined by the Nazis for more than a year in a narrow ghetto in the middle of the city. Outside the wall, life goes on. Inside, its inhabitants fight to survive. However, the high brick wall fails to stop the creation of a group of Jewish actors who, on a freezing winter night, perform a musical comedy at the Fémina theater.
