This exhibition consists of a selection of works from the collections of La Fundación La Caixa and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA). The exhibition contrasts two artistic movements, realism and abstraction, especially in the areas of painting, sculpture and photography,.
The sample also starts at two different periods of the second half of the twentieth century, on the one hand, the fifties and early sixties, represented by works of Antonio Tapies, Jean Dubuffet, Manolo Millares, Antonio Saura, photographer Xavier Miserachs, Pablo Palazuelo and sculptors Eduardo Chillida and Jorge Oteiza.
The second period covers the eighties and nineties, with photographs by Thomas Ruff, Jean Marc Bustamante or Thomas Struth. The focus of abstraction is centered on the works of Anselm Kiefer, Miquel Barceló and José María Sicilia, among others.
The exhibition opens on Tuesday, October 2 at 20:00.
Guided tours for the general public: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 18:00.
