‘Messa di Requiem’

This sacred composition is the great masterpiece of Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901). It is dedicated to the famous Italian writer, poet and playwright Alessandro Manzoni, whom Verdi greatly admired. It premiered in May 1874 at the Church of San Marco in Milan, on the first anniversary of the death of the writer.

Messa di Requiem  is a composition for choir, solo voice and orchestra. In the XI Festival MúsicaMallorca, with the artistic direction of Toyo Masanori Tanaka, it will be played by Natalia Atamanchuk (soprano), Khatuna Mikaberidze (mezzoosoprano), Daniel Magdal (tenor) and Christian Tschelebiew (low).

They will be accompanied by la Capella Mallorquina, directed by José María Moreno, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands 'Ciutat de Palma', under the baton of Israeli conductor Shambadal.
