Opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi to a libretto in Italian by Salvatore Cammarano, based on the play Kabale und Liebe (Intrigue and Love) by Friedrich von Schiller. It was first performed at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples on December 1849. It is one of the least represented compositions of the Italian author, offered deferred on the Festival Verdi di Parma.
