The VIII Setmana de Música Antiga Colònia de Sant Pere recovers this sacred work of Spanish Baroque of composer Pere Rabassa, recently edited by Raúl Angulo and Antoni Pons.
La Gloria de los Santos (The Glory of the Saints) is the only oratory of Pedro Rabassa (Barcelona 1683-Seville, 1767) that has arrived to our days. It was premiered in the church of Sant Felip of Valencia in 1715 and two years later it was performed in Palma, apparently being the first oratorio performed in this city.
It is an allegorical work that exposes, in dialogue form, what happens to the soul when it is rewarded with divine glory.
Under the direction of Luis Antonio González, it will be interpreted by Olalla Alemán and Irene Mas (sopranos), Jorge Enrique García (countertenor), José Pizarro (tenor) and Pablo Acosta (bass) accompanied by the Baroque Ensemble of the SMA2019.
The VIII Setmana de Música Antiga (Antiga Music Week) is celebrated from July 18 to 27 and is organized by the Music Association of the Colònia de Sant Pere.
