Operatic lyric comedy in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi and libretto in Italian by Arrigo Boito, based on the piece The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes of Henry IV, of Shakespeare. It premiered in 1893 at La Scala in Milan. It is the last opera composed by Verdi, and the third based on a Shakespeare play, after Macbeth and Othello. Projection live from the Opera House in Paris.
