With The Birds, Aristophanes won second prize in the Great Dionysias of 414 B.C. This comedy tells the story of two wealthy Athenians who, fed up with public interference in their private affairs, abandon the human world and convince birds to create a new civilization.
2500 years after that premiere, La Calòrica revisits this work in Els ocells, to study the emotional mechanisms that make neo-liberal populism work and question the reasons for its rise in the international sphere.
The result is a comedy where the darkest and most absurd humor is put at the service of the most political discourse.
With a play by Joan Yago and directed by Israel Solà, Els ocells is performed by Xavi Francès, Aitor Galisteo-Rocher, Esther López and Marc Rius. Catalan language.
