Prerecorded from the Teatro Regio in Torini, comes this comic opera in two acts with music by Gioacchino Rossini (1792 - 1868) and Italian libretto by Jacopo Ferretti, based on the fairy tale Cinderella. It premiered at the Teatro Valle in Rome on January 25, 1817 with the composer himself conducting the orchestra.
Rossini composed La Cenerentola when he was 25 and in three weeks, after the success of The Barber of Seville. It contains some of the best compositions for soloist and ensembles.
