‘Burpees’

The Mea Culpa Company produces this gripping road drama by Miquel Mas Fiol that openly addresses the topic of online cults and the rise of the far right among young people. Starring Biel Montoro, Alfons Nieto, and Ann Perelló.

Nold Reborn is a famous and controversial influencer thanks to his online content, where he offers advice to young people on how to become millionaires and be men of value in the 21st century. But all this changes when he suddenly disappears.

Sofía, his older sister, along with David, a sixteen-year-old boy faithful to the influencer's lessons, will embark on a journey to find out where he is, not only discovering the truth but also reliving the toughest moments of their past to determine when everything went wrong. How does someone become a digital extremist?

Burpees is a co-production of Palma's Teatre Principal with the Cia Mea culpa, with support from the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) and the Institut Ramon Llull. It was a finalist for the 2024 Quim Masó Award, awarded by the Temporada Alta festival in Girona. Languages: Catalan and Spanish. Recommended age: 14+.
