The conductor Luis Remartínez has recovered this zarzuela of composer Miquel Marques (Palma, 1842-1914), considered at the time as the 'Spanish Beethoven'. It premiered at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid on November 7, 1878 and for decades enjoyed great success, but after the Civil War it ceased to be represented and fell into oblivion.
In the Teatre Principal de Palma it can be heard in concert version, directed by Remartínez himself and with the participation of the Balearic Symphony Orchestra 'Ciutat de Palma' and the Choir of the Teatre Principal.
