Victor Ullate first performed El amor brujo on May 28, 1994 in the Maestranza of Seville. More than twenty years later he offers us this review of the piece with new scenery and costumes, seeking to give more prominence to the light, so present in the whole plot.
It includes a groundbreaking musical proposal. In addition to the music of Manuel de Falla, lasting thirty minutes, Ullate introduces the music of the Swedish dark ambience group In Slaughter Natives and musical effects created by Luis Delgado to the original version, which leads the viewer on a journey to the hereafter.
El amor brujo tells the story of Candela a gypsy girl whose love for Carmelo is tormented by the ghost of her former lover. A story of love and passion, tears and grief, witchcraft and seduction, death and dance.
